Site Update, Random Stuff

Hi Ladies and Gents, Boys and Girls…

This site was started as a method of providing industrial automation content to co-workers and friends, then to the public. It was started in January 2011, before I published my first book, and as you can tell I stopped working on it seriously several years ago.

There are several reasons for this: as I have mentioned before, I sometimes run out of new things to say. I covered most of the major topics in basic industrial automation during the first 5-6 years of the blog, with the exception of Industry 4.0 and AI topics.

I also have published 4-5 books since then on automation topics, most of which had already been covered to some extent here.

Probably the biggest reason I didn’t put a lot of new content here is that I started the Automation Academy about three years ago after Covid hit and I was pretty busy with that.

I seriously considered quitting the blog completely, but I realized it has a purpose that none of the the other things I have mentioned don’t provide. It gives me an outlet to discuss whatever I feel like. Like Twitter. Which I don’t use.

It is much easier to post something here than on IO Central, and it isn’t behind a paywall like the Automation Academy. It reaches people that I don’t know unlike Facebook, and I can post non-professional content unlike Linked In. It’s definitely easy than making videos like my YouTube channel.

So maybe expect to see different stuff on here sometimes, even if it isn’t related to automation.

If course maybe no one reads it, but that’s OK too.
