Back On The Road (What’s Up This Month)

Hi All! I leave for teaching a class in Chicago tomorrow morning, hit me up if you want to meet some evening! After that I am meeting with Vinny Endres to talk all things CODESYS for a couple of days over the weekend.

I am working on my new CODESYS book and making good progress. Claude has definitely helped! I teach a class from it Nov. 3-5 in Charlotte, NC and have to submit the manuscript (as far as I have it done) Oct. 23. It won’t be published until at least January.

I am having some issues reconciling the Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) aspects of the platform with the way things are actually done in manufacturing plants. OOP, methods, protected variables and encapsulated code makes sense in theory, such as when building OEM equipment that is never to be modified by maintenance. When it comes to plants like I last taught at, the maintenance guys wouldn’t be able to understand it. And yes, they have to modify code and machinery regularly.

If anyone is interested in entrepreneurial ideas I am looking for partnerships on three different projects:

  1. My online platform, the Automation Academy.
  2. My Shopify platform, which sells physical products, primarily used equipment right now, but soon to include other items.
  3. Designing, building and selling industrial automation training equipment.

Send me an email or comment if interested.
