My New Training Center

Well, after having my office destroyed by a tornado on March 3, I am on the road to a new training facility. This time instead of renting, I decided to buy a house and remodel it into a business place. I close on my new place at 25 Tuckers Gap Rd., Lebanon, TN at the end of June, and will be moving in during July.

This place is next to the airport here in Lebanon and has a view of the small planes landing and taking off. It even has a tank in case students become unruly.

A lot of the grass you see in the picture at the top will be replaced with parking, lawn mowing is not a hobby of mine.

Unfortunately I will not be replacing the Mini-Factory, which was destroyed in the tornado, but I do plan to create trainers with the Fischertechnik products I have left, eventually getting some new ones.

As you can see above, there is a fairly large space for training with hardwood floors. It is a three bedroom, 1.5 bath house, and I am not sure what I will use the bedrooms for… one will be set up for guests, as I do occasionally have customers from out of town.

The room above also has space, but is carpeted which is not ideal for training. I will probably put furniture in there to make it usable, but it is not part of my immediate plans.

The back has a deck and the front a porch, and as you can see there is a small shed that can be used for student confinement or storing tools. Much of this back area is also going to be paved for parking.

As with my old facility, this is close to my house (4 miles, ~6 km). It is also on a main road called Leeville Pike and can be made presentable as a business location. The house was built in 1962, but was recently remodeled with new roof, paint and appliances. It even has a dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator in addition to the usual stove and oven!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have been working from home for the past three months, and I don’t have much space or more importantly fast internet, so this will be ideal. 1700 sq. feet, so plenty of room for expansion. Come take a class after I get set up!

  1. Congratulations Frank! I didn’t know your office was affected by the tornado. This location look awesome and I’m sure there will be many cool projects and training happening there.
